Many organizations were involved in the initial proposal to create the British Columbia Centre of Excellence for Women’s Health (BCCEWH) and many of those initial signatory partners remain active collaborators today. Currently, the BCCEWH is affiliated with organizations for the purposes of knowledge generation and knowledge exchange.
BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre
BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre, an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), is the only facility in B.C. devoted primarily to the health of women, newborns, and families. BC Women’s hosts the British Columbia Centre of Excellence for Women’s Health and provides valuable in-kind support as well as access to clinical researchers, experts in women-centred care and opportunities to engage in research with women and girls from across the province.
Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse
The Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA) is Canada’s national addictions agency whose mission is to provide objective, evidence-based information and advice that will help reduce the health, social and economic harm associated with substance abuse and addictions.
On September 26, 2003, the Canadian centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA) and the British Columbia Centre for Excellence for Women’s Health formalized an opportunity to enhance their respective roles and effectiveness with the signing of a memorandum that brings together the unique strengths of each organization.
INWAT
The International Network of Women Against Tobacco (INWAT) is a global network of tobacco control specialists dedicated to achieve improved health and greater equality among women and girls in the world by eliminating tobacco use and exposure. Lorraine Greaves is currently serving as the President of INWAT.
proMOTIONplus
proMOTION plus is the British Columbia organization for girls and women in physical activity and sport. The BCCEWH works with proMOTIONplus to support girls’ and women’s involvement in sport and physical activity.
